About Me
I am Reverend Mike Barger. I am a Colorado native, born and raised, and I have
lived in the Loveland & Windsor area since 1971. I am the youngest son of an Adventist Christian minister. I am a family
man myself; I am a husband, a father, and even a
grandfather.
I am
college educated, literate, and articulate, but I am also a very
down to earth guy. I graduated from a Jesuit University
although I am not Catholic. I completed extensive
coursework in religious studies during college, and I studied
both eastern and western religions. This has helped me to
understand the myriad of religious beliefs people share, and to
accept them all.
I have seen
both the good, and the not-so-good, that orthodox churches have
to offer. Because of these experiences, I am
non-judgmental and open-minded, especially when it comes to
religion. I completely
understand why so many people in our society choose to be
spiritual in their own way without being formally religious. I welcome the opportunity to work with those couples.
Pursuing my ordination was not a decision I took lightly and it was not something I did to make money. I was ordained for many years before I ever performed a single wedding, and even then it was only at the request of a close family member that I did so. After doing several weddings for friends and family, I realized how much joy I could help bring to couples in love and I have been doing it ever since.
I am also a
biker and a Harley enthusiast. I started riding
motorcycles at 10 years old, and still ride today. I am
not affiliated with any motorcycle clubs or groups, but I will
gladly perform ceremonies for members of organized clubs.
I can perform full biker ceremonies if desired, and if
requested, I can even show up in full leathers on my Road Glide Limited.
